Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering

Call for Nominations


The Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering (AAASE) is dedicated to advancing the leadership and excellence of science and technology in the United States while advocating for the voices and rights of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Our awards program recognizes outstanding individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their fields. Nominations are now open for the following award:

Rising Star Award ($5,000): Presented to an early-career individual (not more than ten years after a doctoral degree) who has demonstrated outstanding contributions and promise in science and engineering.

Nomination Deadline: October 1, 2024

Notification to Awardees: October 15, 2024

Award Ceremony: The awards will be presented at the AAASE Annual Summit, held at the Beckman Center of National Academies in Irvine, California, from November 15-17, 2024.

Nomination Requirements:

    • A nomination letter from an AAASE member detailing the nominee's achievements and contributions (3 pages max).
    • 2 additional reference letters for the Rising Star Award (2 pages max).
    • A CV of the nominee (up to 10 pages).
    • The nominee must be an AAASE regular member or lifetime member at the time of submission.
    • Each nominator can only nominate one awardee, up to two reference letters.
    • Nominators must be regular members, lifetime members, board members, advisory board members, fellows of AAASE, or previous awardees.
    • The Award Committee has the right to interpret rules.

Submission Process

Please submit all nomination materials as a single PDF file to awards@aaase.org (use the filename “Awardee Last Name–2024-Recommender’s Last Name-RisingStar.pdf”). Self-nominations are welcome.
